Test speed of USB details @http://balujonnadula.blogspot.com/

Two years ago I was looking for one of the fastest USB flash drive and after checking a lot of reviews, I found out that it was Corsair Flash Voyager GT. I bought it and was very satisfied with it. Honestly I did perform any speed test to confirm that it is one of the fastest because I can feel that it is faster than my other USB flash drives (PenDrive, SanDisk, Kingston) whenever I copy files to my
Corsair USB flash drive.

Today I was browsing Nirsoft’s website and found out that one of the tool called USBDeview that I always carry along with me has been updated and a new SpeedTest feature has been added. I normally only use USBDeview to find out what USB device has been used on a computer and to uninstall the leftover USB device but now I can find out how fast is my USB flash drive. The best part is, I can even submit the speed test result to Nirsoft’s website after testing so me and other people will be able to easily compare the speed of many USB flash drives.

USBDeview’s interface is still the same when I reviewed it. To test the speed of your USB flash drive, plug the drive into your computer, and run USBDeview. Right click on the USB flash drive device listed in USBDeview and select SpeedTest. Alternative you can also use the hotkey Ctrl+T. When you see the SpeedTest window, click the Start Test button to start the speed test.

USBDeview will start writing a large file into the USB flash drive, and then reading back the same file to getting the read speed. Do take note that you need at least 100 MB of free disk space in order to successfully make this speed test. After a few seconds you should get the read and write speed in Megabyte per second. Finally, you can publish the test result by clicking the Publish Test Result button. You get to enter a more detailed description of your USB flash drive and also your name. The speed test result page is at http://usbspeed.nirsoft.net/

As you can see on the list, my Corsair Voyager GT USB Device ranks number 20 out of 469 records on the write speed. In my personal opinion, some of the USB device ranked above me should not be counted because they are USB external hard disk drives. Flash Drives are memory devices that stores the data in flash memory, while USB external hard disks are regular hard disks plugged to USB that stores the data in magnetic surfaces, like the hard disk inside your computer. 2 years has gone by and my Corsair USB flash drive is still one of the fastest.

According to Nirsoft, this speed test is made with sequential read and write operations. When using multiple small files, the read/write performances are usually much lower than sequential read/write. This speed test may not be 100% accurate but the results page does give us some idea on the read and write speed on a lot of USB flash drives.

new iPod Touch details @http://balusrealm.tk/

If rumors are to be believed, Apple is preparing the next generation of the iPod Touch. That’s not the best of the news. The new iPod Touch is said to come with a Camera and Microphone and even built-in Skype software.

Sources say that Apple has already begun manufacturing the new range of iPod Touch models in China’s factories.

The news should be true because the timing is exactly correct. Apple usually announces the new iPods, a month or two after the new iPhone is announced. In this way, people buy the new iPods don’t affect much of the iPhone sales especially the huge initial sales.

The new features of the iPod will boost it’s sale tremendously. iPod Touch already has many features not available on other devices so having a camera and a microphone only makes the device better.

Let’s wait and see what Apple have in store for us.

'Kalavaramaye Madilo' Review: Another Disappointment details in http://balusrealm.tk/

Film: Kalavaramaye Madilo
Rating: 2/5

Cast: Kamal Kamaraju, Colors Swathy, Vikram Gokhle, Tanikella Bharani, Delhi Rajeshwari etc
Music: Sarath Vasudevan
Camera: Rajendra
Dialogues: Lakshmi Bhopal
Lyrics: Vanamali
Editing: Basva Paidireddy
Choreography: Nikson and Sridhar
Art: Madhu Rebba
Pro: Lagadapati Babu Rao
Producer: Mohan Vadlapatla
Story-Screenplay-Direction: Satish Kasetty
Released On: 17th July 2009

Colors Swathy has got good salable value after the film ‘Asta Chemma’ and that has carried expectations on the movie ‘Kalavaramaye Madilo’. And that is the only factor that hooked the audiences to look at this film. Let us see how far the expectations are reached.

Story:
Sreya (Swathy) lives with her mother (Delhi Rajeshwari) and works in an Audit Office. But she loves singing and hence gets into earning by joining as a stage singer in a Star Hotel. She also holds a dream of singing in the composition of AR Rehman.

Sastry (Tanikella Bharani) makes ways to find a concert for his friend who is a classical singer Rao (Vikram Gokhale). They happen to come to that Star Hotel in search of a chance at the same place and listen to Sreya’s performance. Rao shouts on her quoting the standards of music. Sreya takes that as a challenge and goes to the same Rao to learn music.

Srinu (Kamal Kamarj) a London returned guy happens to be the pair for Sreya.

What happens later and how Sreya fulfils her dreams form rest of the story.

Performances:
Colors Swathy:
She is the only pulling factor for this film. She did her best in justifying the role. Fun, humor and energy were given by her in first half. But the second half demanded pathos part in her and hence audiences get to see a new Swathy with tears.

Kamal Kamaraju:
It is good that he improved muscles and looking macho. At the same time he needs to improve a lot in the matters of action and dialogue delivery. His guitar scene is very eccentric and such hysterical scenes should be done only when they are necessary.

Vikram Gokhale:
He is very new to Telugu screen. Audiences can connect to him only when he can deliver all sorts of histrionics required for silver screen. But he didn’t. He underplayed a lot in that passive patient role leaving no sense for his presence in the movie. He is known as very good stage artiste in Maharashtra but he proved not the only choice for the role. And the dubbing voice of renowned SP Balasubrahmanyam given to him is another flaw.

Others:
Tanikella Bharani did his best. He recalls the role of Sarath Babu in Sagarasangamam for some time and that of Allu Ramalingiah in Sankarabharanam for other time.

Delhi Rajeshwari is ok in her role but appeared weaker than before.

Pragathi (hero’s mother) missed timing in delivering dialogues as well as expressions. This can be considered as one of her poor performances in recent time.

Technical Departments:
There is nothing great or less to mention about any technical department and everything went in run of the mill state. Dialogues are good and sensible to large extent but the problem arrived with screenplay. The wellness of dialogues got smoked by lengthy indoctrinating scenes where not required, especially in second half.

Music and Lyrics:
Sarath Vasudevan’s music is mediocre. He needs to improve in orchestration part. Vanamali’s lyrics are good especially in two numbers- ‘Tholi Asalenno’ and ‘Pallavinchina…’.

Highlights:
Colors Swathy

Disappointments:
Screenplay
No sufficient entertainment

Analysis:
The religion of the director who happens to be the story writer of the movie seems to be ‘Vishwanathism’ as far as this film is concerned. To elaborate, the elements in the films Sagarasangamam, Sankarabharanam, Sruthi Layalu and Swarna Kamalam would role on minds’ screen while watching this film. And there is nothing wrong and such attempt deserves praises. But it’s not just the story that becomes a movie. Proper screenplay, scene conviction and free flow are required to hook the audiences. And moreover, such films need a right proportion of humor to balance the equation.

The attempt of director to bring pathos in climax is laudable but the blend missed the goal. The choice of artistes is not so impressive. And the director didn’t do any attempt to balance the equation of emotions those are being delivered in the movie.

First half goes little better with the humor and trademark style of Colors Swathy. But the second half mars the enthusiasm levels of audiences with heaviness in scenes and narration. Lack of timing while delivering dialogues and giving expressions hindered the free flow in narration.

Apart from this, the directors should know that there is huge talent within known sources and need not run for artistes like Vikram Gokhale.

On a whole it’s an old concoction attempted to serve with newness but couldn’t reach the expectation.

Attempt of director can be appreciated but pity on would-be box office result.

Bottom-line: Should be watched with ‘big heart’ to say ‘it’s good’

'Oy' Review: Not Up To The Mark details @http://balusrealm.tk/

Film: Oy
Banner: Universal Media
Rating: 2.5/5

Siddartha, Shamili, Surekha Vani, Napolean, Sunil, Pradeep
Rawat, Tanikella Bharani etc
Music: Yuvan Shankar Raja
Editing: Marthand K Venkatesh
Director: Anand Ranga
Producer: DVV Danayya
Released On: 3rd July 2009

The much awaited debut of Baby Shamili as heroine has arrived today. The film will be remembered only as ‘heroine debut of Shamili’. Let us see how far that appealed for audiences.

Story:
Uday (Siddartha) is the son of a big business magnate and Sandhya (Shamili) is a simple girl who is religious, disciplined and perfectionist. Like their names, their attitudes are on two extremes- like dawn and dusk. But Uday falls in attraction with Sandhya. He tries to pull her towards him. But all his habits and interests are away from her. He strives hard to impress her by enacting as if his tastes suit that of hers. And slowly Sandhya inclines towards Uday.

But a startling fact comes out. What’s that fact? How that influences the love of Uday and Sandhya? That forms rest of the story.

Performances:
Hero-Siddartha:

His energy levels are shown in first half and he is all pervasive. But his character goes sidelined in second half without his mark. On a whole, as a performer he proved once again. He is impressive all the way.

Heroine- Shamili:
Baby Shamili has now turned heroine. Proper costumes and make up are not given for her and hence she looked like a side artiste than a heroine. Although the attempt to show her as ‘girl next door’ is appreciated, little care would have taken in her appearance. And she is too heavy to her age. She needs to cut down weight to look better and have future in film industry.

Others:
Surekha Vani looked glamorous enough with slim personality and neat gait. Tanikella appears for sometime as ‘Telugu Pundit’ throwing some comedy. Sunil’s comedy episode is good in first half but goes eccentric in second half.

Music and Lyrics:
They are good. Yuvan has given the best of tunes and the lyrics are also rightly grooved in the tracks with new sense of poetry. The song ‘176 beach houselo….’ is impressive and catchy. And the expressions like ‘kannu veedi choopu poyenaa…’ are interesting and marvelous.

Technical Departments:
Cinematography is good. Editing is up to the mark. Dialogues are also up to the requirement. Direction has suffered ups and downs and the production values deserve a very good mention.

Crowd Pulling Aspects:
Baby Shamili (as it’s her debut as heroine)
Music (lyrically also good)
Siddhartha

Disappointments:
Shamili has no grace or glamour that’s required for the heroines of this era Second half killed the momentum with ‘extras’ Lack of grip on characters and characterization

Highlights:
Cinematography
Music
Subtle comedy in first half

Analysis:
The movie promises very big with the conclusion of first half. But the expectations fall down mercilessly. Audiences find it difficult to sit on seats when the second half starts. The characterization of heroine goes berserk with second half. How can she ask for a cigarette when she was projected as idealistic lady in first half? How can she comment on mangalasootram and mattelu of married women to a pet dog’s belt when she was shown as a pious religious lady in first half?

Connectionless scenes, eerie characters come on to screen to kill time but they killed the interest levels of audiences. The journey from Vizag to Kaashi via Kolkata on ship, on road to some extent …blah ..blah is the way chosen by director to kill time and narrate how the hero can make his heroine happier by fulfilling all her fantasies and desires. He has gone to certain unwanted extensions by showing ‘Annavaram’ movie in a Kolkata theatre with huge hoopla by fans!!! The director might have expected some patronage from the fans of that matinee icon, Pawan Kalyan. All is ok till then. But he has overlooked the vehicle of ‘Hyderabad City Police’ moving fast in Kolkata!!!

While first half resembles a kind of ‘Chukkallo Chandrudu’, the second half recalls something on the lines of ‘Jab We Met’ and ‘Geetanjali’. This mixed concoction leaves no pleasant freshness in the film.

Choice of the subject is not bad but the implementation part is mishandled. Director failed to maintain momentum in narration. He has shown his slapdash execution in second half.

On a whole, the movie cannot please all sets of audiences. High expectations on this movie would certainly disappoint.

Bottom Line: Watch it if you have no other choice
